Justus MagazineJustus Magazine is a quarterly journal that has been specifically created to showcase the innovation and craftsmanship of the Australian print design industry. Taking the common unity that is design and forging a community of print designers, freelancers, studios, suppliers and students of design, this quarterly journal goes out to a limited number who have been personally invited to subscribe and showcase their work. Each of these intricately designed 128 pages is dedicated to featuring a multitude of specialty stocks, demonstrating the latest printing and ink technologies and highlighting a range of distinctive embellishments. Reaching out to design studios, freelancers, students and creative suppliers from around Australia, Justus provides a tactile journey into the world of paper, typography and print techniques. The journal features sections dedicated to feature articles, client interviews and design trends. Justus includes a 60-page special report (titled Flourish), profiling the work of 10 of the country's finest designers, plus a devoted student section along with a supplier/classifieds directory.
Lindsay SmithGraphic designer of seventeen years and principal of Eleven Eleven Design, Lindsay Smith is dedicated to beautiful print design and original ideas. Lindsay has looked for the story behind her clients’ projects to achieve a unique aesthetic. She creates enriched and meaningful brands to help her clients stand out from the crowd. Lindsay’s career took her to London where she applied her talents to the corporate literature of blue chip clients including the British Army and her flair for intelligent, high-end art direction in the role of Creative Director for AMM Publishing, a luxury travel magazine. Returning to Sydney eight years ago, her studio has established a name for producing work for luxury clientele including Palazzo Versace, Elizabeth Arden, The Observatory Hotel and Mirvac, to name a few. Lindsay believes in forging stronger relationships within the Australian design industry; “If you look at the word ‘community’ it means common unity. Let our common unity be design.”
Estelle PigotResident editor Estelle Pigot is hardly lost for words. As a senior contributing writer for Australian website Design Federation and a copywriting gun for hire specialising in fashion and lifestyle clients, she has her fingers on the pulse of all things clever and cool. With a dark past in fashion recruitment, this self-described design groupie has spent the last three years travelling cities, finishing her Masters of Writing and running events that promote emerging Australian designers. Inspired by the naughty art of street expression Estelle has no time for cultural cringe. She encourages the wild crop of tall poppies that is the Australian design community, to stand up and stand out.
Larissa MeikleDrawn to the colourful world of publishing adventures, Larissa Meikle likes to get down and dirty with ink. With a love of design and all things creative, she was co-founder and editor of music publication Reverb before taking on the editorial reins at Australian Creative and has now broken the chains to branch out and take on independent projects. Never one to shy away from an inventive idea, Larissa enjoys the challenges that come with bringing a new project into the world and seeing it grow up ~ nurturing it with confidence but making sure it’s not too uppity. As the love child of Justus ~ she gets her tenancy to write left-handed from Lindsay and her flaming red crop from Estelle ~ she fits into the family quite nicely. Larissa hopes to get more brothers and sisters on board and welcomes some healthy sibling rivalry.
